Day 3 – Wine Region & Cultural Highlights

  • Full-day tour (~6 hours) to Slovakia’s historic wine region, famous since Roman times. Visit the ancient royal wine towns of Svätý Jur, Pezinok, and Modra, exploring the most important sights.
  • Witness the traditional production of Modra pottery – Majolica.
  • The highlight: visit Červený Kameň (Red Rock Castle), a beautifully preserved castle featuring massive multi-story cellars (the largest in Central Europe) and rich collections of historical weapons, paintings, and antique furniture.

Day 2 – Vienna

Day 3 – Vienna – Eisenstadt – Sopron – Budapest

  • Continue to Sopron, Hungary, known for its Roman and Turkish heritage. Highlights include the Firewatch Tower, City Hall, Storno House, and the Goat Church, with its historical role in coronations and parliamentary sessions. Sopron is also famous for its excellent wines.
  • End the day in Budapest. Overnight in Budapest.

Day 4 – Budapest

  • Full-day sightseeing tour of Budapest:
  • Buda (right bank of the Danube): Royal Castle, Cathedral of St. Matthew, Fisherman’s Bastion.
  • Pest (left bank): neo-Gothic Parliament, Heroes’ Square.
  • Dinner at a traditional Hungarian restaurant with gypsy music and folklore performance.

Day 5 – Budapest: Godollo or Szentendre

  • Half-day tour option:
    • Godollo: visit the former summer residence of Emperor Franz Josef and Queen Elisabeth (“Sisi”), the second largest Baroque chateau in the world.
    • Or Szentendre: a charming riverside town known for its well-preserved Balkan-style houses, churches, artists, and galleries.
  • Overnight in Budapest.

Day 6 – Visegrád – Esztergom – Bratislava

  • Depart Budapest and visit Visegrád, famous for the Early Renaissance summer palace of King Matthias Corvinus and the medieval citadel.

Day 3: Banská Bystrica – Vlkolínec – Liptov Region – Levoča

Continue to Kežmarok, known for its Renaissance castle (today a museum) and the UNESCO evangelical wooden church. End the day in the High Tatras with a typical Slovak dinner at a Koliba restaurant. Return to Levoča for overnight.

Day 5: Spiš Castle – Spišská Kapitula – Žehra

Visit Spiš Castle, one of Central Europe’s largest medieval fortresses (3.82 ha), a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Day 5: Levoca – Spissky Castle – Kezmarok

Discover the treasures of the Spis region. Explore Levoca, a beautifully preserved medieval town featuring the St. Jacob’s Church with Master Paul’s extraordinary 18.6 m wooden altar – the tallest in the world. Visit the massive ruins of Spissky Castle, one of Central Europe’s largest medieval fortresses. Continue to Kezmarok, home to a Gothic castle, Renaissance town hall, a wooden evangelical church, and the historic Lutheran Lycee with its vast library. Dinner and overnight in the High Tatras.

Day 6: Pieniny National Park – Dunajec River – Krakow

Travel to Cerveny Klastor in the Pieniny Mountains for a scenic raft ride along the Dunajec River (8.5 km, approx. 2 hours), surrounded by stunning canyon landscapes. Continue to Krakow, Poland’s cultural gem. Dinner and overnight in Krakow.

Day 7: Krakow – Auschwitz

Morning city tour of Krakow, including the historic Market Square and the royal Wawel Castle. In the afternoon, visit the Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial and Museum for a moving historical experience. Return to Krakow for dinner and overnight.

Day 8: Departure

Special Wine Weekend in the Small Carpathians

Take part in a wine exhibition and taste wines from

the Small Carpathian Wine Region

For wine enthusiasts, we present a unique opportunity to explore and taste the awarded wines of the Small Carpathian Wine Region. Stay in the wine-town Pezinok, only 25 km from Bratislava, and experience Slovak wine culture up close.

The Small Carpathian region is famous for its quality dry white wines such as Welschriesling, Riesling, Veltliner, Lemberger, and St. Laurent. Wine has shaped the history of Pezinok, Modra, and Svaty Jur, granting them the status of privileged royal towns in the early 17th century. Today, local traditions are revived by the Small Carpathian Wine Route Association, showcasing not only wine production but also crafts and cultural heritage.

Slovak wines are still largely unknown internationally, representing just 0.3% of European wine production, with most of it consumed domestically. Only limited amounts are exported, even to Japan.

Programme
